How should Hyoscine Butylbromide be taken?
The usual dose for adults and children over the age of 12 is 2 tablets 4 times a day. For IBS, this dose can potentially be lower at a dose of 1 tablet 3 times a day which can be increased if necessary. For children aged 6-12 years, the usual dose is one tablet 3 times a day. Hyoscine butylbromide should be swallowed whole with water, not broken, crushed, or chewed.
Is Hyoscine Butylbromide suitable for me?
Hyoscine butylbromide is suitable for use in those over the age of 6 who are suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It is not suitable for those who are allergic to hyoscine butylbromide or any other ingredients in the medication, for those with glaucoma, those with myasthenia gravis, those who have a suspected or confirmed blockage of the bowel, or for those who have an enlarged bowel. Do not take this medication if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding.
