What is hayfever?
Hayfever is a common allergy that is usually linked to pollen – a fine powder released by plants during their reproductive cycle. Pollen contains certain proteins that can cause irritation, inflammation or swelling in the nose, throat, eyes, or sinuses.
How is hayfever usually treated?
Hayfever is not curable, but symptoms can be treated, usually through hayfever tablets or antihistamines which help to prevent the allergic reaction from happening, or steroids that help to reduce any swelling or inflammation. You can access prescription hay fever tablets from Pillhub by simply completing a short online questionnaire.
What other methods can be used to manage hay fever?
There are some other methods that can be used to help manage the various symptoms of hay fever. These include staying indoors when the pollen count is over 50 grains per metre cubed of air, applying small amounts of Vaseline to nasal openings to trap pollen, showering or changing clothes after being outdoors, or wearing wraparound sunglasses when you are outside to help prevent pollen having access to the eyes.
