Premature Ejaculation

Premature ejaculation is a sexual disorder that affects a number of men. It is where a man ejaculates too early into sexual intercourse or other sexual acts, usually after 2 minutes or less after sexual contact.

It can be distressing and difficult to process when you are experiencing premature ejaculation, but it is a highly treatable condition.

What is premature ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation is where a man is unable to control or delay their early ejaculation. Usually, premature ejaculation means that ejaculation occurs after 2 minutes or less. It is a common condition, affecting over 30% of men at some point in their life, and is highly treatable thanks to recent medical innovation. It usually affects men who are between the ages of 18 and 35.

There is a range of potential reasons why a man may be experiencing premature ejaculation, including physical, mental, and environmental factors. Physical factors can include high blood pressure, hypersensitivity, or diabetes; mental health-related factors can include issues with stress, emotional imbalance, anxiety or depression; environmental (or lifestyle) factors can include issues such as heavy drinking.

The two main methods of treatment for premature ejaculation are oral pills such as Priligy and sprays such as Stud 100. These work in different ways to extend the length of time that men can last in bed. There should also be efforts to understand what is most likely to be causing the premature ejaculation – for example, if it is a result of anxiety issues, then therapy options should also be explored.
