What is KY jelly?
KY jelly is a water-based lubricant that can help to ease issues and discomfort that may arise due to vaginal dryness.
What can you use KY jelly for?
KY jelly is mainly purposed for use in sexual intercourse or masturbation. However, KY jelly can also be used if you need to aid the insertion of suppositories/pessaries or tampons. KY jelly is not a form of contraception and will not prevent any STIs (sexually transmitted infections).
What are the benefits of using KY jelly?
KY jelly is water-based and water-soluble. Antiseptic and preservative additives have also been added to the jelly – these include chlorhexidine gluconate, gluconolactone, methylparaben, and sodium hydroxide. It does not contain any added colours or perfumes to prevent any unnecessary irritation. The jelly does not react to latex condoms, diaphragms, or sex toys. If the jelly starts to dry out during use, its lubricating effects can be reactivated with the addition of saliva or water. It also does not stain any fabrics.
