How does Fluconazole 150mg work?
Fluconazole works through the active ingredient fluconazole. This chemical target the fungi that are causing the thrush, stopping them from producing ergosterol – a key component of fungal cell membranes. Disrupting the production of ergosterol breaks down the cell membranes of the fungus, helping to prevent thrush from spreading and restoring your natural balance of bacteria.
How should Fluconazole 150mg be taken?
Fluconazole should be taken whole with water. To treat thrush, only one 150mg dose is required. To reduce the recurrence of vaginal thrush, fluconazole can be taken every third day for a total of three doses, and then once a week for a maximum 6 month period while you are at risk of being infected.
Is Fluconazole 150mg suitable for me?
Fluconazole is suitable for women and men over the age of 16 that are suffering from thrush. Do not take Fluconazole if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, if you are suffering from porphyria, if you are taking antihistamines, cisapride, pimozide, quinidine, or if you are taking erythromycin. Fluconazole should not be taken if you are pregnant.
